Five Straight For Prologue
The wins are piling up for pacer Prologue – five in a row, to be exact – and the same can be said for reinsman Alfie Carroll.
Prologue powered to another impressive score during Thursday’s card at Flamboro Downs, and he did so in gate-to-wire fashion.
The Blair Burgess-trained Prologue shot to the top for driver Alfie Carroll, and together they led the field through fractions of :28.4, :58.2 and 1:27.4 before zipping home in :29 to win by a half-length margin over Machlicious in 1:56.4. Devils Peak was third in the $8,000 tilt.
Sent off as the 3-2 favourite, the three-year-old son of Big Jim-Hornby Heart improved this year’s record to 5-0-3 from 10 tries for owners Karin Olsson Burgess, Robert Burgess and Stephen Upson. The pacer has banked close to $30,000 to date.
The victory was career win 2,501 for teamster Alfie Carroll, who notched win 2,500 with Putnams New Year during Wednesday’s card of racing at The Raceway at Western Fair District.
Officials from Flamboro Downs offered congratulations to the reinsman, who does a great deal of his driving on a weekly basis at Canada’s fastest half-mile oval.
