When you combine Canada’s leading URS trainer with one of the top ten drivers in the nation, chances are you’ll come up with a winning combination

.

That’s what rail birds are quickly finding out at Rideau Carleton Raceway as the tandem of Sebastien Giroux and John MacDonald are dominating the competition at the Capital oval.

Giroux leads all trainers in Canada with an unreal URS of .532. MacDonald is fourth nationwide in URS with an average of .378.

Going back to July 1st, the two have combined for a win percentage of 41 per cent and total purse earnings from wins of $114,875.

The momentum doesn’t stop there, especially when you look at their August numbers alone. With only half of August completed, MacDonald and Giroux have a win average of an amazing 48 percent, registering 14 wins in 29 starts so far. Total win earnings are at $61,175 thanks in part to the success of St Lads Trixie, winner of the Fiesty Fillies Pacing Series final, taking the lion’s share of that $29,050 purse. The August total has exceeded July’s earnings by $7,475 and that doesn’t include a number of in the money finishes.

For Sebastien Giroux, the resident of L'Ange-Gardien, Quebec is on his way to a career year. He sits at $399,346 and has earned over 74% of last year’s total earnings of $534,606.

On the driving side of the tandem, Sir John A has already eclipsed the million dollar mark in earnings at $1,183,741. The maritime native and now resident of Russell, Ontario is well on his way to passing last year’s career high of $1,575,505.
