Three For Tessier At Rideau
Trainer Yves Tessier conditioned three winners on the Sunday, April 1 program at Rideau Carleton Raceway.
Tessier's first win was with Bet I Can Fly, who catapulted off cover to win by a length and a quarter in 1:57.1 in a $5,950 conditioned pace. After being interfered at the start, the five-year-old Fly Fly Buckeye gelding came from 12 lengths off the lead to win with Jonathan Lachance in the bike. Competing for owner Martin Chouinard, he paid $7.80 to win.
Sent the odds-on favourite, Tessier's next win came with Torches Angel, winning in near wire-to-wire fashion in 1:58.2 in a $6,950 conditioned trot. Driven by Louis-Philippe Roy, the eight-year-old Angus Hall mare, owned by Francois Morin, took control after the quarter and held off a final-turn bid from Ghirardelli Lindy to win by two lengths. She paid $3.30 to win.
Mister Big Top completed the hat trick for Tessier, winning a $6,950 conditioned pace in 1:54 with Louis-Philippe Roy in the bike. Owned by Francois Morin, the $6.80 winner rode the rail as The Roadies set a fast pace, shooting through the inside to snag victory by a length.
