Pacing Mare Develops A Winning Pattern
There’s one thing you can depend on thus far in 2018 — and that is that Noone To Depend On is going to win every other start.
The outstanding five-year-old mare won for the third time in six seasonal starts, with each success coming on an even numbered outing for her. In her latest triumph, the daughter of Santanna Blue Chip copped the $23,000 Mares Open Pace at Miami Valley on Friday night (March 30) in 1:53.1.
Driver/trainer Kayne Kauffman led the compact, but elite field throughout the mile although none of the challengers got discouraged and all seven finished within 2-1/4 lengths at the finish. Pistol Packin Mama (Chris Page), last year’s sophomore Ohio Sires Stakes champion, was only beaten a neck while show finisher Zoe Ellasen (Tyler Smith) was also lapped on to the winner at the wire.
Stephen Herrick and Mark Bogen own Noone To Depend On, who now sports 20 victories in 77 lifetime starts and career bounty of $203,411.
