Napolitano Sweeps Pocono Features
Driver Anthony Napolitano swept the $15,000 features, one on the trot and two on the pace, on Tuesday (March 27) over a 'good' track that was later downgraded to 'sloppy' at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono.
Napolitano won in both halves of the early double, first guiding the Yankee Glide gelding Danish Design to a head victory over Boinganator in 1:57.3 in the trot headliner. Kris Rickert trained the Northfield shipper for owners Benjamin Gordon and Dante Scattolini.
The Articulator gelding Lucbobski, dropping from the Sagamore Hill Series, took the lead after the quarter and advanced to a 1:53.4 victory. Tom Shay trains for owners Howard Taylor, Abraham Basen, Thomas Finelli and Tom Lazzaro.
Napolitano completed his sweep of the Pocono features with the American Ideal gelding A Farmboys Success, winning for the first time under the new interests of trainer Ron Burke and owners Burke Racing Stable LLC and Weaver Bruscemi LLC. The Burke trainee won in 1:53.1, a lifetime best.
John Wagner, winning his first race since last visiting the winner's circle July 15, 2011, piloted Arlene Cameron-trainee Speed It to a 1:56.1 win in the evening's 10th race. Owned by Richard Hans, the trotter by pacer Cam's Rocket raised his career earnings to $291,807.
