Coon New 'Trackman' At Pompano
It has been announced that Dan Coon, one of the integral parts of the famous family involved in racetrack maintenance, has been named Pompano Park's new track super
intendent.
“We are so delighted that the Coon tradition of excellence in track maintenance is coming to our racetrack," Pompano vice president and general manager Michael Bloom said via release. "Hopefully, this will show our horsemen and women — and our fans, too — that we take harness racing very, very seriously here in South Florida.”
For some three generations, the Coon family has been the leader in the design, construction and maintenance of racetracks throughout the world.
Coon has plied his trade and expertise at renowned racetracks such as Hawthorne Racecourse and the Red Mile, among others, and has designed and built both harness and thoroughbred tracks in the U.S., Canada and 'down under' in Australia and New Zealand.
His stint at Pompano begins immediately with the Florida-bred stakes season just three weeks away, beginning on September 5, and the pari-mutuel opening scheduled to get underway on September 19.
