DuPage County Bans Video Gaming

DuPage county, a suburb located west of Chicago, has become the first county in Illinois to ban video gaming.

The county seat of DuPage. The DuPage county board voted unanimously this week for the ban, and its chairman, Bob Schillerstrom, said, “I think it’s clear DuPage county’s quality of life is not for sale. What we’re saying is everyone should ban video poker.”

Another board member, Jim Zay, said, “The state sent us a bad piece of legislation. By DuPage voting against this it will hopefully set the ball rolling for them to find another revenue source.”

Illinois governor Pat Quinn said, “I don’t think we should jump the gun here. If communities choose not to have it, it’s OK by me.”
