Pappy Go Go Wins Meadowlands Debut
Following an undefeated season in Atlantic Canada for two-time O'Brien Award of Horsemanship winner Marc Campbell, trotter Pappy Go Go made his Meadowlands debut a winning one for new connections on Friday night (February 23).
Now trained by Andrew Harris for owners Will Fleming of Londesborough, Ontario and Michael Goldberg Racing of Massachusetts, Pappy Go Go won Friday's second race at The Meadowlands in a career-best clocking of 1:53.4 over a sloppy track in rein to Marcus Miller.
Sent postward as the 8-1 third choice in the $12,000 conditioned trot, the two-time Atlantic Breeders Crown champion closed off cover to win by one and a quarter lengths, with 101-1 longshot Tour De Lindy and 54-1 Pricelesspossesion coming on for second and third, respectively.
Pappy Go Go paid $18.40 to win after recovering from an early miscue and finishing fifth at Yonkers to start his four-year-old campaign earlier this month.
The Tad The Stud-Paging Willy gelding, who won all 13 of his sophomore stakes assignments in 2017, sold for $30,000 at the Tattersalls January Select Mixed Sale.
