Larrys Petrock Stays Undefeated
Barry Bird trainee Larrys Petrock commandeered his rivals after the half and progressed to a 1:54 win in a $16,000 overnight pace at Woodbine Racetrack on Thursday, Feb. 22, remaining undefeated in three pari-mutuel starts.
The 1-9 favourite was positioned fourth while Magical Albert posted a :27.2 opening quarter. Driver James MacDonald soon tipped the three-year-old Pet Rock gelding first over, brushing to the lead past a :57.2 half. Larrys Petrock held a two-length lead at three-quarters in 1:26.3 and maintained a one-and-one-quarter length lead at the wire.
Gerardo, moving first over around the final turn, grabbed second and Magical Albert held third.
Owned by Gerrie Tucker, Larrys Petrock, out of the Sportsmaster mare Perfect Sport, has collected $23,000 in earnings through his three starts. He paid $2.30 to win.
