Super Imposed N Wins Dover Photo
Super Imposed N won a cavalry charge to the wire in 1:50.1 to win the $27,500 Preferred/Open Pace at Dover Downs on Thursday, Feb. 22.
Corey Callahan drove trainer Mike Hall’s Jereme’s Jet-Madam Superior gelding, who he co-owns with Dave Hamm, to his third win in his last four races this season. He closed strongly to edge Sicily in the photo, with Christen Me N third and pacesetter Major Uptrend, who led turning for home, fourth.
In the prior race, Vic Kirby drove Sweet Rock between horses to post a 1:50.4 victory in a $14,000 Winners-Over Pace. G.P.Calloway, Reggie Hazard and Legacy Racing own the Rocknroll Hanover-Penny For Nickel gelding who won for the first time this year after six tries. Little Ben, who took the early lead, held on for second with Silver Fox J finishing a third.
When live racing returns on Monday, Feb. 26 at Dover Downs, Mister Virgin, a winner of six of his last eight races, is again the one to beat in the feature, a $17,500 Claiming Pace.
Claimed twice during his recent lengthy six-race win streak, Ron Davis claimed the eight-year-old gelding in late January. After finishing out-of-the-money in a step-up to $25,000, he returned to $17,500 ranks last week and won convincingly with Tony Morgan driving for trainer Brooks Gray.
Among the challengers in the seven-horse field are owner-trainer Dylan Davis’ Cashendash Hanover, second last week after two wins consecutive wins, with driver Tim Tetrick, and John Dickens, Kathleen Mofield and KDK Standardbreds’ Lew’s Maverick and pilot Montrell Teague steps up in class after a 1:50.4 win last time.
Also entered are Arty Foster III an Wanda May Saulsbury’s Hide Me Away and Russell Foster, I Belong With You, driven by Corey Callahan for trainer Bobby Rice and owner Joanna Callahan, Frankandjoanne, owned by trainer-driver Steve Nason and Tom Bradford and Bamond Racing’s Midnite Pass and Tim Tetrick.
Brenda Teague’s Sheez On A Cruze is the favourite in the top trot after a 1:56 win from post eight. The stakes-seasoned four-year-old battles My Big Kadillac, owned, trained and driven by Vince Copeland, Hannah’s Charm, and Leigh Raymer, Steve Moss and Stacy Stafford’s fast Super Fly among the opposition.
Dover Downs now offers a 50-cent Pick 5 wager which starts with the second race through the sixth. There is also a late daily double on the 12th and 13th races.
Live racing is featured Monday through Thursday weekly with a 4:30 p.m. post time. No live racing Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
