Village Jamie Goes The Distance
Village Jamie shot to the top and kept on trucking en route to a determined score in Saturday’s $8,500 Fillies & Mares Preferred 3 for pacers at Flamboro Downs.
Michael Whelan hustled Village Jamie to the position of command from Post 3, and together they led the group through fractions of :29.1, 1:00.4 and 1:29 before kicking home in :29.4 to win by a neck over Big Lis in 1:58.4. Return To Style was a lapped-on third.
Sent off as the 6-5 favourite, the four-year-old daughter of Mach Three-Village Jest celebrated her first win of the season for owner Liam Wallace of Troy, Ont. The three-time winner is just shy of $70,000 in lifetime earnings.
