There was a single Gold elimination for the two-year-old filly pacers contested on Sunday night at Mohawk prior to the cancellation. It was Western Silk prevailing as the favourite in the $40,000 contest.
The filly, with Mark MacDonald driving, sat seventh in the early going as Tiz A Dream (Doug McNair) put up the first half of :56.3. She was then able to follow cover in the third quarter and had worked her way into a perfect striking position second-over as the field turned for home.
In the stretch, the daughter of Western Terror - Extemporaneous blasted off her cover and won going away in 1:53.1. Precious Cammill (Keith Oliver) rallied sharply to pick up the place spot with Tiz A Dream holding on for third.
It was the second win in three career starts for Western Silk, who is co-owned by trainer Casie Coleman along with Tom Hill of Lancashire, Great Britain.
