Meadowlands Show To Debut Friday

Thanks to the Meadowlands and SportsNet New York (SNY), live harness racing from the ‘Big M’ will come right into fans’ living rooms Friday night.

That’s the night ‘Meadowlands Harness Live’ will begin its 10-week Friday night run on SNY by bringing three live races to lovers of the sulky sport. The track’s Dave Brower will serve as host, while Hall of Famer Bob ‘Hollywood’ Heyden and the recently hired Dave Little – the former racing editor at the New York Daily News – will offer colour commentary and selections.

SNY is the official television home of the New York Mets, giving exclusive access to more than 125 live telecasts each season. The network is also home to the New York Jets, as well as the UConn men’s and women’s basketball teams. SNY is available in New York, Connecticut, New Jersey and northeastern Pennsylvania, and nationally on DIRECTV, Verizon FiOS and Frontier, and is available in approximately eight million homes in the New York Metropolitan area and 12 million homes across the country.

“We are extremely pleased to bring live racing to the fans who love our product but don’t – or can’t – get out to the track very often,” said Meadowlands Racetrack Chief Operating Officer / General Manager Jason Settlemoir. “And we are thrilled to once again be working with SNY, with whom we have been partnered with for a decade now.”

Meadowlands Harness Live will air from 9-10 p.m. and have coverage of Races 7 through 9. The other nine telecasts will air on January 12 and January 19, and then after a one-week hiatus, the show returns on seven straight Fridays beginning February 2 through March 16.

Live racing at the Meadowlands currently takes place on Friday and Saturday evenings. Post time is 6:35 p.m.
