First Win For Andrew Moore
Andrew Moore had a memorable night on the track at Charlottetown Driving Park Entertainment Centre as the young teamster engineered a perfect trip to record his first lifetime win
aboard Mom Sez Im Pretty in the evening's fourth race.
Moore, a 28-year-old Charlottetown resident who had just 38 starts prior to tonight, sat a patient pocket trip before getting room in the stretch for the half-length score in 2:00.4.
Hilo, under the command of driver Danny Romo, had to sweep late in the stretch to catch a flying Fleet Officer and Marc Campbell at the finish line to win the Metro Building Supplies Pace by a nose in 1:58.2.
Hilo was rolling seventh on the outside past the half with fraction setter Take the Risk, with Michael Stevenson in the bike, taking on all challengers as the field turned for the three quarters. Fleet Officer and Campbell were in the pocket but got shuffled to fourth at the head of the lane before he tipped into the passing lane to mount an all out sprint to the finish. Take the Risk held on for a hard fought third.
Jason Hughes had a driving double on the night.
Harness racing returns to the CDP Saturday at 7pm with the Spud Island Classic going to post on Sunday at 1pm.
