Big Haul In Big M’s Pick-10
The reviews on the Meadowlands’ 20 Cent Survivor Pick 10 wager are in, and one lucky patron who was wagering via simulcasting from Maine is sure to give it five stars after having the only winning ticket Thursday night, good for a payoff of $14,628.80.
The big winner became the sole survivor after Tempster Hanover took the sixth race at odds of 2-1.
Last weekend, the bet yielded an average payoff of almost $8,500, but Thursday evening, that number increased more than 70 percent since there was a single winner in the pool that totaled $17,217.
Trainer Bruce Clarke was selected as the Big Dee’s Tack Trainer of the Week earlier Thursday night. One of the reasons was the powerful score recorded by his Charming Hill on Dec. 21. The four-year-old daughter of Bettors Delight got the new week off to a good start for Clarke by winning her fourth straight start – all at the Meadowlands – since shipping in from Pocono Downs, taking the second race claiming pace in 1:55.2 with Jim Marohn, Jr. in the bike. As the 3-5 public choice, she returned $3.20 to win.
Driver-trainer Annie Stoebe won her first career Meadowlands race by guiding 60-1 shot Uriel to a powerhouse score in the first race, the “B” division of the two GSY Amateur Driving Club events on the card.
After Uriel’s big upset, the next eight races on the program saw no winner go off at odds greater than 2-1.
The Late 20 Cent Jackpot Super High Five did not result in a single-ticket winner, upping the carryover to $57,252.19.
