Yinger Named Pompano's New Director
John Yinger has been named Director of Racing at the Isle Pompano Park
.
Yinger, who has been with the South Florida track since 1999, most recently served Pompano as Presiding Judge. The former USTA Race Track Systems Manager also serves on the USTA Board of Directors.
In making the announcement, Isle Pompano Park Vice President and General Manager Michael Bloom said, “John brings a vast wealth of experience and knowledge to his new position. I am very confident that his dedication, passion and work ethic will serve the Isle Pompano Park well and lead to new plateaus of success for everyone.”
The track’s pari-mutuel season begins Saturday, September 19, with a new post time of 7:05 p.m. Two Saturday non-wagering matinees, September 5 and 12, will feature two- and three-year-old Florida breds as the Sunshine State’s lucrative stakes season gets underway.
The popular 10 cent superfecta wager will return, as well as a new Pick-4 bet with a 15 percent take-out.
Racing Secretary Greg DeFrank reports that the track has received stall applications for over 1,000 horses (“and counting,” he says).
Applications are still being accepted for both race horses and yearlings that are preparing for their first year of racing wars in 2010.
Information on stall application status will begin on August 10. The stable area will officially open on Friday, August 21 at 8 a.m.
