Flooding At Churchill Downs
Torrential rains in Lousiville, Kentucky resulted in flash flooding at Churchill Downs on Tuesday morning forcing 22 horses to be evacuated from their stalls
.
According to the Courier Journal, the 22 horses, who were trained by Clark Hanna and Chuck Simon, will be moved to the empty Trackside training center off Durrett Lane.
Vast areas of the backside pavement were covered in water, as was much of the infield. The outside the entrance to the stable area, Fourth Street, was cordoned off after a car was submerged in water.
Racetrack superintendent, Butch Lehr, told the Courier Journal it is unlikely that the track will be open for training on Wednesday. Churchill Downs is currently between live racing meets.
