Rubber Duck Triples With Pocono Win
Rubber Duck, who has done his best racing on the front end in recent starts, worked out a pocket trip on a 34-degree night and came on to get a half-length decision over tough pacesetter Classicality while taking Sunday’s $25,000 Winners Over Handicap Trot in 1:53.2 Sunday night (November 19) at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono.
Jim Marohn Jr. sat with the Muscle Mass ridgling behind favoured Classicality as that one set fractions of :27.1, :56.1, and 1:25.2, then gained into the :28 last quarter to get his third straight victory for trainer Jennifer Bongiorno and owners Blair and Erna Corbeil of Beaumont, Alta.
Rubber Duck passed the $450,000 earnings mark with his 14th career win.
There are only two more days of racing left in the 2017 season at Pocono – the track will be dark tomorrow, then will race on Tuesday and Saturday at 6:30 p.m., with the Saturday after Thanksgiving action the final of the year at the mountain oval.
