No Rust On Pauly Wally
Pauly Wally returned from a lengthy layoff Monday evening at The Raceway at Western Fair District and came away victorious in the $8,500 Preferred 3 for horse and gelding pacers.
On the sidelines since the middle of June, the Dean Nixon-trained Pauly Wally entered the Monday evening tilt with a trio of qualifiers under his belt.
Bob McClure was parked and pressing with the even-money favourite at the quarter pole, but they couldn’t clear. Beach Terror left the public’s top choice on the outside through fractions of :29.1, :58 and 1:25.4. Pauly Wally overcame the parked out trip and used a :29.1 closing panel to win by four lengths over Beach Terror in 1:55. Cajon Thomas took home third prize.
Tony Basile and Andy Atlas share ownership on the four-year-old son of Shadow Play-Brio, who improved his 2017 record to 10-1-0 from 15 starts with the win. The pacer has banked over $66,000 to date.
