Dover Feature To Petrossian AS
In a repeat of last week’s opening day feature, Petrossian AS scored a win in the $18,000 headliner giving driver Russ Foster his second of three winners Monday at Dover Downs.
Foster, winner of the DSOA “Rising Star’ award early this year, notched a three-bagger including a 40-1 shot, late in the program.
In the feature race, he guided Petrossian AS, a four-year-old gelding by SJs Caviar-Elegant Dame, trained by his father and owned by his veteran horseman grandfather, Arty Foster, to his second straight victory lifting his seasonal earnings to $31,515. Trust Fund Baby (Art Stafford, Jr.), who also won a co-feature last week, finished second. Race favourite Common Parlance (Corey Callahan) held on for third.
Three races later, Foster hustled 40-1 shot Don Marine’s Dedododo Dedadadada from off the pace to grind down Teggers Hanover (Stafford, Jr.) who appeared on the way to victory. It was a second win for trainer Kyle Moore. American First (Jeff Fout) took the show money.
Art Stafford, Jr. joined the longshot parade driving Jody Lee Cahall’s Fire In The Belly to a 38-1 win from post 8 for trainer Trevor Stafford. The Real Artist-Fire in The Sky gelding raced with a claiming tag for the first time. Rock On Precious (Foster) was runner-up. Stone Fire Hanover (Ross Wolfenden) finished third.
Russ Foster had three winners, Art Stafford, Jr. and Tony Morgan had two with trainer Kyle Moore adding a double.
Tuesday is feature trot day and an excellent octet of square gaiter meet in the $25,000 Open led Celebrity Pegasus, Wind Of The North and newcomer DWs NY Yank.
