Trainer Pleads Guilty In Federal Court
On Wednesday, November 1, a former Standardbred horseman pled guilty in United States Federal Court to introducing mis-branded equine drugs into interstate commerce.
Alain Lamontagne, 55, is the former horseman in question.
According to an item by usnews.com, prosecutors have stated that the resident of Middletown, New York sold equine drugs to an individual that he thought was a horse trainer from Maine. The supposed trainer was actually an undercover agent.
Lamontagne is facing two charges, each of which carries the possibility of a $100,000 fine and a year in jail.
In 2011, Lamontagne was charged in connection with illegally supplying drugs and medications to the horse racing industry and was subsequently suspended from the industry.
