Bill Tainsh, Jr. is only one driving win away from reaching the 2,000-win plateau and the resident of Edmonton, Alta. will have many opportunities to get the job done this weekend at Grande Prairie

.

Tainsh, who is listed to drive in five races on Saturday and six on Sunday, scored his 1,999th win on July 25 with A Special Lady, who proved to be truly special when she equalled the track record for three-year-old fillies in 1:57.2.

“She was in Ontario this spring, racing at Woodbine and Mohawk and now she’s here for the Alberta Sires Stakes,” trainer Jeff MacLeod told the Daily-Herald Tribune. “She was set up perfect – I just put the same equipment on her and away we went.”

A Special Lady’s next sires stake engagement comes up on Aug. 23, at Grande Prairie in the $75,000 Alberta Diamond.
