Rubis Prescott Returns To Flamboro
Driver Bob McClure capped off a natural hat trick winning Sunday night's co-featured $10,500 Fillies & Mares Preferred 2 Pace in rein to Rubis Prescott at Flamboro Downs.
After scoring back-to-back wins for the Patrick Shepherd stable, Flamboro's leading reinsman engineered the winning trip aboard the Dean Nixon-trained Rubis Prescott ($3.40) from an assigned post eight. The 3-5 favourite invading from the WEG Circuit rallied off cover before the final turn and passed leaders Katies Beach and Sing Like An Angel in the stretch for the three-quarter length victory in 1:55.1.
Icr Racing's seven-year-old Mach Three mare also won her last start at Flamboro in a Preferred 2 on December 14, 2016. The Sunday score was her sixth win of the year from 32 starts and lifted her annual income to $96,770.
In the $11,500 Preferred 2 for horses and geldings, Saulsbrook Peach ($24) emerged from the pocket to overtake pacesetter Rise Up Now, driven by McClure, and then held off Redonkulous and Buckeroo in a four-way finish. The winning time was 1:53.1 for the eight-year-old Royal Mattjesty gelding, who was driven by Robert Shepherd for trainer Isabelle Darveau and owner Catheline Pelletier.
McClure later got the gram slam driving trainer Gary Lance and Patrick Dillon's Totally Kissed ($2.90) to a 1:54 victory in the $8,500 Preferred 3.
In other action, 12-year-old pacer Rocknroll Band's 1:59.3 neck win in the evening's opener marked his 50th career visit to the winner's circle. Tyler Moore drove the Mattnamaras Band gelding, who is currently campaigned by Benoit and Colleen Lamarche.
