Gravitator Clicks On Class Drop
After spending all season chasing stakes stars and going winless for trainer Luc Blais, Gravitator dropped in with overnight on a soggy Monday at Woodbine Racetrack and came away victorious.
Gravitator got away seventh in her $16,000 assignment for driver Sylvain Filion, who had her on the move in the backstretch. She made steady progress in the second quarter, and was all the way up to second as the field hit the half in :59.4 over the ‘sloppy’ surface.
Gravitator sprinted to the top before the field headed into the final turn, and she was clear of the field by a pair of lengths as she splashed by the three-quarter pole in 1:29.2. She used a :28.3 closing frame to win by half a length over a late-driving Donizetti. Carson Hill was third.
Sent off as the 2-1 favourite, the three-year-old daughter of Kadabra-Shesa Priority notched the second victory of her career for trainer Luc Blais and owner Determination of Montreal, QC. She’s stashed away in excess of $77,000 this season and more than $244,000 to date.
