Hoerdt Hits Northlands Grand Slam
Trainer-driver Kelly Hoerdt conditioned and piloted four winners on the 10-race program at Northlands Park on Saturday, October 21.
Hoerdt's first win came in the $9,000 Open Pace, where Iwontdothatagain won again, this time by a neck as the odds-on favourite in 1:53.4.
Sitting third, Iwontdothatagain stalked fractions of :27.2 and :57 set by Cool Cowboy, who held a two-length lead at three-quarters in 1:25 as Sterling Cooper moved first over, with Iwontdothatagain on his back. As Sterling Cooper faltered in the stretch, Iwontdothatagain circled by and made up three lengths in the stretch to catch Cool Cowboy on the line, while Phanatical Maniac rallied for third.
A six-year-old gelding by Stonebridge Regal out of the D M Dilinger mare Island Nessie, Iwontdothatagain, paying $2.90 to win, is owned by trainer-driver Kelly Hoerdt along with Ed Keryliuk. It was his 14th win in 23 starts this season and his 20th in 92 overall. He has earned $128,206.
Hoerdt's three other wins came with Wrangler Cash, a pocket-popping $39.00 winner in 1:53.2, Itchin To Cu, grinding first over and returning $13.80 in 1:58.1, and Brighten Your Life, rallying off cover to win in 1:56.4 and pay $13.10 to win.
