Favoured Junebugs Baby Delivers
After having been sent off as the even-money choice Sunday (October 15) at Inverness Raceway, Junebugs Baby ($4.10) went out and recorded a one and a half-length win in 1:58 during the track’s featured invitational pace, a $5,000 contest that went postward as the final dash on the nine-race card.
Junebugs Baby, who is an eight-year-old son of Western Paradise, started from Post 3 and raced third through the fractions (:28.2, :56, 1:27), which had been cut by Euchred and driver Mark Pezzarello.
Junebugs Baby had been pulled off the rail by the time Euchred clicked off the third call. Junebugs Baby had grabbed the lead by the head of the lane and went on to post a one and a half-length victory. Euchred hung on for second and the Ryan Campbell-driven Doubleshotascotch rounded out the triactor.
Junebugs Baby, who is owned by Jakie Heffernan of Glace Bay, NS, has now won nine of his 18 starts this year and 53 of his 121 overall pari-mutuel contests.
