Truro Hat Trick For Rennison
Trainer George Rennison led all conditioners with a hat trick on the nine-race Thanksgiving (October 9) program at Truro Raceway.
Rennison, who calls Truro, N.S. his home, proved victorious with Woodmere Violator ($8.50, 2:00.4), a first-over winner in the day’s $1,100 fifth race; Grins Little Flirt ($5.40, 1:59.3), who wired her seven rivals in the $1,200 sixth; and Dinger Two ($3.40, 1:58.2), a dominant 15-3/4 length winner in the $1,075 finale. Ryan Ellis drove all three winners for Rennison, who stands atop the training standings at the Bible Hill half-mile oval.
Badlandia ($32.40) narrowly upended favoured pacesetter Good Friday Three to capture the Thanksgiving feature, a $1,575 top-level handicapped pacing event. Darren Crowe drove the six-year-old Badlands Hanover mare for trainer Gardner McCallum and owner Paula White to a 1:58.1 victory, emerging through traffic late after stalking from well off a contested middle half.
