Drone Footage Leads To 15-Month Ban
It was recently announced that a Standardbred trainer in Australia has been suspended for a period of 15 months after a camera on a drone obtained footage of the conditioner tubing his horse on race day.
According to a report by the Herald Sun, Down Under trainer Brian Sylvia recently pled guilty to tubing his horse, Elslatsy, on race day while at his training facility.
Although he pled guilty, Sylvia, who was also fined $2,000, said that the use of the drone was an invasion of his privacy. The drone was used as part of a stewards’ investigation.
Sylvia pled guilty to a total of five charges.
A barrister representing the interests of Harness Racing Victoria stated that Sylvia’s actions were deliberate and premeditated.
