In Secret, Shane Adam Win At Yonkers
In Secret and Shane Adam were the standouts Saturday, September 30, winning Yonkers Raceway’s $50,000 co-featured Open Handicaps.
The week’s marquee trot saw even-money favourite In Secret win his sixth-consecutive start. Out and moving from post position seven, In Secret went the distance, going fractions of :27.4, :58, and 1:26.2 before crossing the line in 1:55. Money Maven second off a pocket trip, beaten a head, with Rubber Duck a half-length back in third.
Lookslikeachipndale closed from last to grab fourth, while 98-1 Dark Pool picked off the remainder.
For In Secret, a five-year-old Dewycheatumnhowe gelding co-owned (as Burke Racing) by trainer Ron Burke, J&T Silva Stables, Larry Karr and Weaver Bruscemi, it was his ninth win in 20 seasonal starts. Driven by George Brennan, he paid $4.30.
The weekly featured pace had Shane Adam—from assigned post two-also lead at every subsection, going splits of :27.2, :57.2, and 1:24.4 before winning in 1:53.
Christen Me N, starting from the rail and subsequently sent off as the 3-5 choice, ground first over from third but missed a nose. Scott Rocks, Sunfire Blue Chip, and Always at My Place settled for the minors.
For second choice Shane Adam, a five-year-old Western Ideal gelding trained by Rich Banca for co-owners Howard Taylor and Thomas Lazzaro, it was his fifth win in 28 starts this season. Driven by Brent Holland, he paid $16.80.
