Surrealist Superb At Northside
Surrealist was assigned the outside post in the Saturday (September 30) feature at Northside Downs. He came. He saw. He still conquered.
Driver Ryan Campbell had the favourite in sixth (and last) shortly after the wings of the starting gate folded in Northside's $1,200 Winners Over feature. Fleetwood Cam (Edgar Jacobs) had front-end intentions and set fractions of :29.2, :59.2 and 1:29.4. Putnams Power (Brett Leblanc) and Dreamfair Van Dam (Gerard Kennedy) took turns trying to haul in the early pacesetter and wrestle command, but all that work was for naught as Surrealist swooped the field with a fifth-to-first move around the final turn. A short lead turning for home widened to three lengths by the wire, reached in 1:59.4. Dreamfair Van Dam stayed for second with Im A Sumbunnie (Kevin Bailey) closing well for show.
Owned by trainer Dana Getto of New Waterford, N.S., Surrealist (Modern Art - Keeping Secrets) now boasts a 14-6-2 summary from 25 seasonal starts. The win was his 68th lifetime, good for earnings of $288,644.
