Classicality Invades Pocono, Wins
Classicality invaded The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono Sunday night (September 24) and wasted little time getting acquainted with the local scene, rallying from the pocket to take the $20,000 featured trot by two and a half lengths in 1:53.2.
Owner-trainer Lisa Dunn, who had shipped in Redder Than Red from The Meadows Saturday night and promptly won one level lower than this event, used the same cross-Pennsylvania pattern to win with the Classic Photo gelding Classicality, with the crowd going quickly wise and sending off the winner as the favourite, returning $7.40. Marcus Miller was in the sulky for the 38th career victory of the seven-year-old, who has amassed a bankroll of $474,142.
Two-time Québec-bred champion Wildwild Men came to Pocono to make his first United States start at age four and promptly took a new lifetime mark of 1:55 for driver Simon Allard, trainer Rene Allard, and owner Catheline Pelletier. The Muscle Mass gelding, whose full brother Seeyou Men was also a two-time Quebéc-bred champ, won by almost five lengths, and it looked as if the winner of $125,906 was ready for bigger challenges in upcoming starts at The Downs.
