Andrew Wants More
Many horsepeople know that winning can be addictive. Nineteen-year-old driver Dylan Andrew recently got a taste for the finish line, and now, as an article by The Guardian explains, the young pilot has a thirst for more
.
That next victory may come tonight at Truro Raceway in the Neil ‘Chops’ Campbell Memorial Young Guns Drivers Challenge. Andrew is scheduled to steer Pier Ho L Artiste (R7, PP4, 7-2) and Porto Bello Sultan (R10, PP1, 7-2) in the Young Guns dashes.
In addition to the Young Guns races, divisions of the Atlantic Sires Stakes for two and three-year-old trotters and two-year-old pacing fillies will also be going postward.
Andrew is relatively fresh in the race bike, but the experience is getting more like home each trip behind the starter. “My first couple times getting behind the gate was intimidating,” Andrew was quoted as saying in The Guardian article. “But the more times you do it the more comfortable you get.
“There’s a lot of skill and a lot of strategy in it.”
Seven other pilots will be taking part in the Young Guns dashes. Those drivers include Nicholas Oakes, Chris Davies, Dave Kelly, Jr., Nicholas White, Ryan Campbell, Andrew Ward and Robert Chappell.
