Eagle Jolt Wins Summerside Preferred
The beat goes on for the 'King of Island racing' as Marc Campbell had four driving wins on Sunday program at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway. Campbell’s quartet of victories, including the afternoon's featured pace, helped extend his lead in the local driver's standings.
Eagle Jolt won the $2,400 Preferred Pace in 1:56 for trainer/driver Campbell and owners Wilbur and Marie MacDonald of Orwell Cove, P.E.I. over Ultimatelyhandsome (driven by Kenny Arsenault) and third-place finisher Old Buck (Jason Hughes).
Campbell's other wins came with Cabaret in 2:01 for trainer Blaine McKenna of Summerside, and Keepcalmndanceon in 1:59 from his own stable. The fourth win was in a dead heat as the Campbell-driven Bet Er All and D Bs Rosco (Arsenault) hit the wire together in 1:57.2. Bet Er All is owned and trained by Ralph Sweet of O’Leary, P.E.I.
Cyrax made his East Coast debut a winning one as he scored a 2:01 victory in race one for driver Dale Spence, who had two wins on the card, and owner/trainer Barry Biggar of Summerside. That first race also included an accident racing to the quarter pole as Quick Mad (Adam Merner) hooked wheels with C J Bluefin (Neil Bambrick) with that incident interfering with Mach Vegas and unseating driver Mike McGuigan. Quick Mad finished fourth and was disqualified while C J Bluefin and Mach Vegas failed to complete the race. All horses and drivers walked away from the incident unscathed.
