Pasultimatedelite N delighted in getting the ultimate good trip in the pocket, then came on to catch odds-on pacesetter Marlee B to win the $16,500 mares pacing feature Tuesday night at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono.
Andrew McCarthy, guiding his fourth winner of the night, sent the daughter of Bettors Delight to the lead in the :26.3 initial stanza, then yield to the quarter-move of Marlee B and sat behind her through middle splits of :55 and 1:23. When crunch time came, Pasultimatedelite N could summon a little more than her rival, winning by a length and lowering her lifetime mark a tick to 1:51.2. Mark Kesmodel conditions the career winner of $289,165 for owners Patrick O’Brien and George Hartman.
She paid $28.80 for the win.
Tomorrow morning The Downs will be conducting the draw for the four $252,000 Pennsylvania Sire Stakes Championships for two-year-olds, with $50,000 consolations also on the docket if they fill. These races will be conducted on Labor Day, Monday, September 4, when Pocono will be switching over its Monday post time to the twilight time of 4:30 p.m., a start time in effect for that day for the rest of the meet.
