Hanover Hosts Balanced Image Elims
A pair of $5,000 eliminations for the Balanced Image headlined the 10-race program at Hanover Raceway on Saturday, August 19, with the top four two-year-old trotters from the two eliminations returning for the $61,400 Saturday, August 26.
Joey Bats won going first over in the first elimination, trotting a 2:03.1 mile.
Getting away fourth, Joey Bats pursued the leader Delcrest Holiday first over after a :29 first quarter, pressuring the leader through a 1:01.4 half and 1:31.4 three-quarters before inheriting the lead when Delcrest Holiday galloped at the top of the stretch. Bonnie Breeze rallied from second over, finishing three-quarters lengths off the winner. Bigboy Rosco and Leaderofthepack rounded out the finalists.
A gelding by Holiday Road from the Muscles Yankee mare Jl Daytona, Joey Bats won his first race in five starts, earning $8,120 for owner Douglas McCarthy. Trained and driven by Keith Jones, he paid $6.30.
The other elimination was taken by 2-5 favourite Charlie Ona Harley, going wire-to-wire in 2:04. Henderson Seelster, recovering from an early miscue and parking the mile first over, took second, while Dalliance Seeslter rode cover to finish third and Edstone passed stretch-drive breakers Glidenhide and Radical Attempt to take fourth.
Competing for owners Joanne Colville and Nancy Macnevin, the Jack Moiseyev trained-and-driven son of Glidemaster from the Angus Hall mare Carnac won his second race in three starts, earning $18,285. He paid $2.70 to win.
