Rey Pupils Repeat; Howlett Six-For-Six

Manitoba-sired sophomore pacing filly Reys N A Rocket and gelding Quarter To Noon were repeat winners in the Silk Lace and Golden Boy Stakes for trainer Richard Rey on Sunday's (August 13) card at Killarney while trainer Trevor Williams (five wins) and driver Don Howlett (six-for-six) dominated the regular racing action.

Driven by Michel Rey, Reys N A Rocket won the $3,099 Silk Lace split over one other filly foe by 14 lengths in 2:04.2. Quarter To Noon led wire-to-wire in the $3,036 Golden Boy division, winning the three-horse race by one length in 2:04.3 over the 'good' track.

Richard Rey owns both homebred Mattarocket offspring, with Janet Rey co-owning the filly with a four-race stakes streak.

In the $4,340 Kindergarten Stakes for two-year-olds, Release The Baby bested her competition, winning by 13 lengths in 2:05.1 for trainer/owner/breeder Arthur Rey. Roland Rey drove the Playboy Killean filly, who is now two-for-three in her career.

Outside of the stakes action, Don Howlett drove half of the winners on the 12-race card, including five for trainer Trevor Williams. Among their Sunday successes, Howlett and Williams teamed up to take the $2,400 Open Pace with Michael Williams' Full Moon Dodger, who won his third straight race by seven lengths in 2:01.2.

Howlett had a perfect day going six-for-six, with his other victories for the Williams stable aboard Latestngreatest, Red Star Tiger, Apple Blossom Time and Kendras Angel, and a dead-heat victory in rein to the Cory Manning-trained Marvtherat.
