Track Records In Northside Stakes
Northside Downs hosted a 16-race program on Saturday, August 5 highlighted by four divisions of the Atlantic Sires Stakes and two divisions of the Nova Scotia Stakes.
Elektra Express took the lead after the quarter and advanced to a 1:57 win in the $11,512 Nova Scotia Stakes for three-year-old filly pacers, equaling the track record set by Honey Do Jigtime. Sent off the 1-5 favourite, the Western Paradise filly owned by Danica Ellis and driven by trainer Marc Campbell paid $2.10 to win.
In the $8,520 Atlantic Sires Stake split for two-year-old trotters, Ticked cruised after leading by 15 lengths at the quarter to a three-length victory over odds-on favourite Buckaroo and Buddy White. Owned by trainer-driver Myles Heffernan along with Jackie Heffernan, the $4.10 winner went a track-record mile of 2:03.4 for two-year-old colt trotters.
The $13,335 Nova Scotia Stakes for two-year-old colt and gelding pacers was taken by T M Direct Speed, going wire to wire in 1:59.4 over 3-5 favourite Rockin Party and String Busters. Owned by Timothy McLearn, trained by Nicholas White and driven by Dale Spence, the Western Paradise gelding paid $11.00 to win.
