‘Tropical Storm’ Slams Saratoga At 5-1

Last week at Saratoga Casino Hotel, Tropical Storm Bi, by Yankee Glide, lowered his career mark to 1:55 while winning a Winners Over trot. On Wednesday night (July 27), the Tony Ciuffetelli pupil was dismissed at odds of 5-1 as he looked to repeat with Jimmy Devaux in the sulky.

Devaux blasted Tropical Storm Bi off the starting gate car and the five-year-old flashed some uncharacteristic early speed.

After having fended off a few challengers along the way, Tropical Storm Bi went on to stop the timer in 1:57 to record his second consecutive win in the $12,500 feature. Mugshots Bro (driven by Bruce Aldrich Jr.) sat the pocket and finished second while longshot Silent Pine (Bruce Cooper) earned the show spot. Tropical Storm Bi returned $12.20 to win.

The victory was one of four on the night for Devaux, who is in the midst of a big month at ‘the Spa.’ Aldrich piloted five winners on the Wednesday card.

Live racing resumes on Friday evening with a first post time set for 7:05 p.m.
