Surrealist Vaults Clear At Inverness
Even-money favourite Surrealist ($4.00) mounted a three-wide slingshot move around rivals with just over a quarter mile to go and proved himself as four and a quarter lengths the best in Wednesday evening’s (July 26) featured $1,100 pacing event at Inverness Raceway.
Paul Langille was unhurried early with the eleven-year-old Modern Art gelding, fifth in the field of six behind pacesetter Maudail Mac (Travis MacLean) through early splits of :28.1 and :56.4. Surrealist succeeded in chasing down third-over cover through the third turn, powering clear just past three-quarters in 1:26.4 and sprinting off willingly on the far turn. Ultimately, Surrealist went on to earn his 61st career win in 1:56.2 over fast going. Intended Royalty (Redmond Doucet) protected third after his first-over ascent, while Maudail Mac checked in a worn-down third.
Surrealist, who just on Saturday (July 22) scored a 6-1/4 length win at Northside Downs, captured the third of his last four races in the province. Trainer Dana Getto owns the decorated veteran.
