Race Declared 'No Contest' At Georgian

Saturday evening's fifth race was declared a 'No Contest' after a mid-race incident occurred.

Following a victory in fourth race with pacer A B Kyle, driver J Harris encountered trouble when his next mount Were Rolling's bit broke behind the gate and his bridle came off. The 12-year-old Gordon Dancetovic-trained trotter raced out front until the clubhouse turn when he veered right with Harris getting knocked out of the sulky.

Harris was up on his feet quickly and avoided the trailing horses, many of which slowed up while the leaders proceeded to complete the race. The incident resulted in a refund of pari-mutuel wagers totalling $8,276.

Harris told Trot Insider that the horse's bit broke in half behind the gate and he had no steering. Following a visit to the hospital, he reportedly checked out fine.

The judges did the "right thing", by declaring the race a no contest and creating a pari mutuel refund.
