Stage Set For Austin Series Final
The stage is set for the $11,600 Final of Mark Austin Pacing Series at Dresden Raceway this Sunday, with the top money winners of the first two legs eligible for the final.
Step In My Groove, Action Town and Pull The Shade were the top money winners by virtue of the $5,000 they banked after winning in each of the preliminary legs.
Abitofalright is the fourth leading money earner thanks to the $3,750 he racked up with win and a second in the prelims. Bigbadcarly pocketed $2,500 while Got It Made racked up $2,500. Rounding out the top nine money earners are Alyssa Marie, My Greek Princess and You Said It who each nabbed $1,850 in purse money.
According to the rules a trainer is only allowed to send two horses behind the gate for the final which means that Bill Kirkpatrick has a decision to make as to which two horses he will enter. He is the conditioner of Step In My Groove, Abitofalright and Got it Made.
CRT Hottie and Senior Player are the also eligibles.
All trainers must enter their horses by Thursday at 10 a.m. to be eligible for Sunday’s final.
The series’ namesake Mark Austin was a prominent trainer in Ontario before his sudden death in 2014. Austin got his start at Dresden Raceway in the 1980’s. He trained stars such as Fool Me Once and Sparky Mark and was credited with breaking all-star trotter A Worthy Lad for Joe Johnston.
