Red Shores Feature To Complete Player
Complete Player is the next best thing to invincible off the front end and he proved it again in the Thursday evening feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Mark Bradley steered the three-year-old son of Brandons Cowboy on top at every call in the $1,900 feature through fractions of :28.3, :58.3 and 1:27.3 before closing out the mile with a two-length victory in 1:56.1 over Oh To Be Me (Gary Chappell) and Likely To Win (Adam Merner).
David Kennedy of Charlottetown owns Complete Player while it was the second training win on the program for Tom Weatherbie, as Woodmere Dreams won the first race on the program.
Freddie got revenge in the $1,850 open trot as scored a 1:59.3 victory while powering by pacesetter Morosita Bi (Jason Hughes). Trainer Marc Campbell was in the bike for the win for owners Three Wisemen Stable of Kingston. Osprey Impact (Walter Cheverie) was second with Holy Molie Maggie (Gilles Barrieau) rounding out the Triactor.
Campbell had two wins on the program as he also scored with Tobins Secret in 1:59 for trainer Earl Smith of Hunter River while Brian MacPhee had a driving double aboard Bignprecious in 2:00.1 for trainer Garth Cole of Kensington and veteran trotter Zip The Lip in 2:01.1 for trainer Don Sweet of O’Leary.
The 2017 Gold Cup Ambassadors were officially introduced on Thursday. Katie Wight, Laurissa Handren, Mikaella Taylor, Jillian Doucette, Juli MacMillan, Catherine MacCallum, Hailey Cole and Brooke Clarey. The girls will represent Red Shores and the harness racing industry leading up to the Gold Cup race on Saturday August 19th.
Live racing continues Saturday at 6 p.m. at Red Shores Charlottetown then Governor’s Plate Week action kicks off Sunday afternoon at Summerside at 1 p.m. with the eliminations for the Governor’s Plate Invitational Free-For-All.
