Coleman Pupils Shine At Mohawk
A total of 12 two-year-old qualifiers carded exclusively for rookie pacers were contested at Mohawk Racetrack with Casie Coleman pupils crossing the wire first on three of the events.
Summer Travel might have Coleman thinking that's what she has in store after a scintillating 1:54.1 score in the fastest baby race of the morning. Louis-Philippe Roy was at the controls behind Summer Travel, who carved out early fractions of :30.3 and :59.2 before declaring playtime to be over and sprinting off on the competition with a :54.4 back half to win by 15 lengths.
A $35,000 Harrisburg purchase, Summer Travel (Western Ideal - Shark Tail) is owned by Coleman's West Wins Stable, Mac Nichol and Calhoun Racing Ltd.
Coleman and Roy also connected with two pacers owned by West Wins Stable, John & McKinlay Fielding and Calhoun Racing Ltd. Goth Hanover (Sportswriter-Gifted Yankee) was a 1:55.3 winner by nearly 12 lengths, while Western Passage (Sportswriter-Ever Western) got up to win his test by a neck in 1:56.4.
