Familiar Face At Kawartha Saturday
Kawartha Downs regulars are thrilled to see Dagfin Henriksen’s name in the program for this Saturday night’s (June 24) card.
The native of Norway was a regular at the Fraserville, Ont. oval for close to a decade and also served as the track’s blacksmith during that time. However, he and his wife, Chantelle, and their young children moved to Cambridge two years ago to be closer to year-round racing.
Saturday will mark the first time racing at Kawartha for Dagfin since he returned on September 3 of last year for the track’s signature race, the Goodtimes Invitational. Although he finished out of the money with Lady Ping in that race, he did pick up a win with his other starter that evening, Kronwall. This Saturday night he has two starters, including the three-year-old trotting filly Moni Justice, who will be making her third lifetime start. Chantelle shares ownership of the Justice Hall lass with Barry McClennan of nearby Cavan, Ont.
His other starter is a rarity for him, a pacer, as he usually concentrates on trotters. Lucky Fortune has drawn Post 7 in the eighth race with Reg Gassien listed to steer. Dagfin sharnes ownership of the four-year-old son of Classic Card Shark with Gary Volpe and Steve Murphy of St. Thomas, Ont.
The action will get underway at 7 p.m. Saturday night.
