Off-Track Betting Now Open At NS Casino
Casino Nova Scotia, in partnership with the Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition Commission (Truro Raceway), is pleased to announce that as of today (Monday, June 19), satellite horse race wagering will be available at the Casino Halifax location.
Located in the former Harbourfront Lounge, the teletheatre will feature daily, real-time broadcasts of horse races from across North America. Wagers can be placed through live clerks or automated terminals and races will be featured on 16 large-format screens.
“Truro Raceway’s long standing reputation for live racing dates back to 1875. The addition of simulcast racing brings year round racing entertainment to our customers,” said Truro Raceway General Manager Joe Nicholson. “Adding a venue in a central location in downtown Halifax helps bring the racing world to more people.”
“As a leading entertainment venue in Nova Scotia, we are excited to partner with the primary driver of Nova Scotia’s horse racing industry,” said Casino Nova Scotia Executive Director Chris Roberts. “We offer a full array of gaming and entertainment options in Halifax and the addition of off-track betting is a perfect complement. The new teletheatre and poker room are part of a broader renovation that will see a host of new amenities come online later this summer.”
Horse racing has been a tradition in Nova Scotia for over 100 years and off-track betting (OTB) establishments have been operating in Canada since the late 1980s. Casino Nova Scotia will feature North America’s top harness and thoroughbred products beginning at noon, seven days per week.
