Earlier on the card, a two-horse spill involving Life Patrol (Bernard McCallum) and Ditchemsdreamachin (Alexander Munro) occurred in the sixth race. Sources from Truro Raceway told Trot Insider both drivers walked away from the spill on their own power, but McCallum booked off the remainder of his drives after suffering cuts and a sore hip. Both horses were uninjured.

It was a good day at the office for trainer Blair Laffin, however, as the conditioned enjoyed a three-win day with horses from his outfit. His winners were Beer Drinkin Doll (1:59.3), Antosh Seelster (1:59.1) and Lady Gi Gi (1:57.3). The Shubenacadie, NS horseman has sent out 934 winners while banking in excess of $1 million in earnings.
