Glamour Boys Battle In Delaware Stakes
The opening round of Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund action for three-year-old pacers at Harrington Raceway commenced Monday with three $20,000 divisions.
The final division was the fastest as Only Money Inc. and Jason Skinner's Bags To Riches ($2.40, Tim Tetrick) broke the track record for three-year-old pacing colts with a 1:51.4 victory over Hallies Comet and Almost Cut My Hair.
The Roddys Bags Again colt never had an anxious moment in his wire-to-wire score for trainer Skinner. The prior mark was 1:52.2, shared by Windfall Blue Chip, Superbad Hanover and Metropolitan.
George Teague Jr's Daiymir ($2.20, Montrell Teague) was a decisive 1:52.3 winner in the first division.
A son of Mr Wiggles, Daiymir maintained a comfortable lead throughout for a dominating win for trainer Clyde Francis. His stablemate, Henry The Dragon, finished second with Kaaya third.
Tina Clark and Brian Clark's Automatic Dragon was a front end winner in the second division with a 1:52.2 score over Rivers Crest and Stay In Your Place. The Art Director gelding notched his sixth career win for trainer Bobby Clark.
In the overnight feature, the $17,500 Open Pace, Major Uptrend ($7.20, Tony Morgan) was an impressive 1:49.3 winner for owner Crissman Inc and Niss Allen Inc. Trained by Tim Crissman, it was the fastest mile of the meet.
DSBF action will continue on the Tuesday program with three $20,000 divisions for pacing fillies, with four divisions of trotters closing out the week on Wednesday.
The top eight point earners from the two elimination legs will return to compete in $100,000 final events on July 27 during the Delaware State Fair.
