Century Downs Open To Cool Cowboy
Cool Cowboy made a quarter-pole move to the lead in Monday’s $10,000 Open Pace at Century Downs, and once he cleared to the top it was ‘game over’ for the others.
In rein to Michael Hennessy, Cool Cowboy got away second and tracked Read The Proposal past the quarter pole in :27. Hennessy didn’t sit long, however, as he marched Cool Cowboy back to the outside and back to the lead in a matter of strides. Cool Cowboy rolled through middle splits of :56.4 and 1:24.1 before scooting home in :28.4 to win by 1-3/4 lengths over race favourite Pillage And Burn in 1:53. Johnny Gun was third.
Sent off at odds of 5-1, the five-year-old son of Brandons Cowboy-Cool Grin improved this year’s record to 2-2-2 from seven starts with the win. Trainer Kelly Hoerdt co-owns the career winner of $234,383 with Blair Corbeil and Witsend Consulting Inc.
