Georgian Preferred To UF Bettors Hanover
A six-pack of pacers faced the gate in Tuesday’s $7,500 Preferred 3 at Georgian Downs, and a big, late rush from UF Bettors Hanover earned him the win in 1:54.4.
UF Bettors Hanover, who got away fourth for driver Scott Coulter, watched race favourite Bugatti carve out fractions of :27.3, :57.3 and 1:26.1. Coulter, who was backed up to fifth with the gelding as the field traveled into the final quarter of the mile, found clearance for his charge and sprinted home in :27.4 to win by half a length over Bugatti in 1:54.4. Third prize went to Bank Shot Hanover.
Scott West of Rockwood, Ont. owns and trains the seven-year-old son of Bettors Delight-Sly Girl Hanover. It was the pacer’s second win of the season and the 16th of his career. The lion’s share of the loot lifted his bankroll to $188,945.
