Cincinnati Miss Beats The Boys
Cincinnati Miss gave trainer Jackie Greene and driver Frank Coppola Jr. another Saratoga feature win on Sunday afternoon (June 4) as the Kadabra mare prevailed in the $14,500 Open Trot.
On Saturday night, Greene and Coppola teamed up for a win in the Open Pace with Artful Way.
Kellogg Racing Stables' Cincinnati Miss was the lone lady among the group of featured trotters on Sunday and moved out to the early lead. The five-year-old high-stepper never faced a legitimate challenge before stopping the timer in 1:56.2 for her sixth victory of the season but first while racing against Open company. Just Make Believe (Mark Beckwith) sat the pocket to the winner and came up second best while Lucid Thoughts (John MacDonald) kept his incredible “on the board” streak alive by finishing third. The race’s favorite Cash Me Out (Jim Devaux) was never much of a factor before settling for a fourth-place finish.
Cincinnati Miss returned $9 to win in the mild Sunday upset and led an exacta and triple that paid $71.50 and $300.50, respectively.
Live racing resumes on Thursday afternoon with a 12:15 p.m. first post.
